Shiro's Warlock - Miss Insane Crits <3 Empty
PostSubject: Shiro's Warlock - Miss Insane Crits <3   Shiro's Warlock - Miss Insane Crits <3 EmptySun Aug 28, 2011 3:23 pm

I'm working on writing something to illustrate the current warlock build that I have.
This post is reserved for anything that's about to come up.
---------------

Class Overview

If the Mage Excels at PvE and the Illusionist at PvP, the Warlock can be considered as the in-between of these two classes.
The first striking aspect of the Warlock is that it has no AoE skill bare the standard issue Lighting Web. This gives it limited crowd control power.

However, to counterbalance this apparent weakness, the Warlock has quite a few tricks up its sleeves that can match the Mage's pure power and the Illusionist's cast speed. Its buffs make the dark magic user surprisingly durable, and it is also the Magic DPS class with the highest affinity towards Magic Criticals: The Warlock has a much higher M-Crit Rate than its Mage and Illusionist counterparts (and also more M-Crit DMG).

This makes the Warlock an excellent PvP class as well as a very useful DPS to eliminate tough single mobs or bosses. Very few other classes can mathc the Warlock's 1vs1 long term DPS Output. Crits after crits will keep removing huge chunks of life off your enemy's HP meter.

Main Overview of this Build

Pros:
- High Survivability compared to other Mage DPS Classes. Can survive a stun and its follow up attacks from an Engineer or a Warrior (if Warrior doesn't fear), and possibly from an MA (depeding on its gear)

- High Crit Rate and Crit DMG. Crits fairly often and does not have issues one hit killing anything that it crits

- Excellent in PvE vs Bosses as well due to critting fairly often and very high

Cons:
- Lower cast speed

- Normal hits' damage isn't that impressive

- Relies on luck to be effective in PvP, can provide inconsistent results at times

Knowledge Point and Certificates Input

Incase you can't ID my certs or know where to obtain them, The two blue certs come from the Bard and the Shaman, (Increase M-Crit Rate and increase M-Crit DMG) whie the last green cert is obtained from the Hunter (LCK+)

Class Skills Overview

Dark Parasites: An instant cast damage over time skill (DoT). Damage is pretty good, and the instant cast nature of this skill really makes it good. This spell also has the ability to randomly remove a debuff from an enemy, which can lead to some quite weird situations in PvP (killing a pet in one hit by removing its status, disabling charge on an MA, etc). Stacked with Winter Chill, and both Maxed, you can do 1.5k+ damage per second, which is really something no other class can do. This skill's main importance though, is that it sets up the stage for your next two main skills.

Shadow Arrow: On paper, the Warlock's most damaging skill with a life leech chance. Sounds great in theory, but not that much in practice. The Life Leech only has 30% chance to kick in, and if it does kick in, you will remove all the parasites off your target, needing you to recast again (not that it's a big lost of time, but time is money). Do note that the amount of parasites stacked on the foe does not mean how much HP you will steal. If there is one stack or three stacks, your chances of leeching and the ammount of HP leeched back will stay the same (same as damage inflicted).
This Skill does pack a huge punch though, so it can hurt a lot, but it has 2 seconds cast time, which kinda makes it obsolete compared to the other hard hitting spell, Firebomb.

Nightmare Attack: The Warlock's bread an butter skill. Although apparently weak in power, this is the Warlock's most powerful spell when used correctly. Whenever your target is under parasites and you attack them with this spell, you will do a very powerful double hit, which is nearly as powerful as the Illusionist's deadly Icicle. The advantage? You can cast this spell in 1.5 seconds, which is fairly quick. A critical with this spell often means one hit killing your opponent, or being very close on the verge of doing so. I mainly use this skill over Dark Arrow.

Wicked Pack: Your pet summon. It's nice to have a pet to tank for you, and it can actually help when it is very resistant when fighting bosses (instead of dieing in two hits), but beware of AoE debuffs like roar that your pet can't recognize... your party would be very mad if you can't manage this. What I usually do is once I see a boss charging up a disturbing AoE effect, I just destroy my pet by casting "Tribute".
The main attraction that will make you want to summon this pet though is its insane debuff. It adds +50% M.Crit damage, effectively making your crits overkill on anything it touches.

Tribute: Grants you -25% Damage reduction and more M-Critical rate (30% if you've invested into the Knowledgepoint for upgrading it). This buff is in my opinion one of the bests in the games. This allows the Warlock to take substantial amounts of damage, giving him/her an edge over the enemy. Most warriors that fight you with this buffed up shield are unable to kill you only with stun (different story with fear, so all warriors below lvl 55 are minced meat for you), you can survive certain MA's rushes (if they don't get too many criticals) and most other classes can't kill you before you kill them (except of course, the illusionist). This makes this skill one of the bests to level for the Warlock early.

Death Threats: Also known as AoE fear. One skill that everyone hates, because if you invest in the knowledge point to upgrade it, you will mainly immobilize any class that's not named warrior for 7 seconds. It does have a 1 minute cooldown though, so make sure that you aim correctly. Most people will try to jinx you by running away. Counter them by Teleporting and trying to guess aim where they will be with precast (or just don't precast. There is only one class vs which you need to precast this spell: MA due to their rush). When used on mobs, makes them run around randomly for 7 seconds. Quite hilarious.

Life Converter: Your sacrifice a quarter of your Behelder's health in exchange of a life regen that lasts 12-15 seconds depending on wherever you followed my build or not. Can be cast in combat, so you can actually run away and heal yourself should things go awry. The regen isn't that great, but it's still a big plus. When maxes at lvl 55, you can health 250+ Health per second, which can make a big difference.

Plague Carrier: This is Dark Parasites, but it is cast on an ally or yourself. This basically saves you a big trouble of having to cast Dark Parasties on multiple mobs, as the person that you infect will spread its parasites to the people that attack him. Do note though that the parasites from this skill are much weaker than your standard spell. It's main use is in PvP, where you know you're going to get stunned/hit first. This saves you a cast and allows you to go directly for the one hit kill with Nightmare Attack or Firebomb.

The Warlock also has a magic buff that resembles the MA's charge but it is as for now unavailable.

Skill chains

Chain 1 vs Wild Mobs: When fighting a mob, you're most likely single tageting. This one is mainly used when your pet is too weak to tank. Besides, you will usually kill mobs by the time your chain is done, and they won't even have touched you.
Dark Parasite > Nightmare Attack > Lightning Web

Chain 2 vs Wild Mobs: When your Behelder is high level enough to tank the mobs. Is more time consuming than Chain 1.
Mandate > Dark Parasites > Nightmare Attack > Firebomb

Chain 1 vs Bosses/Dungeon Mobs: When there's another person that keeps Winter Chill on, you can just focus on using your own skills. You will be doing a lot more damage seeing that Winter Chill loses 1.5 Seconds of your cast time.
Dark Parasites > Nightmare Attack > Firebomb > Firebomb > *Loop from the start*

Chain 2 vs Bosses/Dungeon Mobs:: When you're the only one that is going to keep Winter Chill on.
Winter Chill > Dark Parasites > Nightmare Attack > Firebomb > *Loop from the start*

I will add more later for PvP content... but that's mostly what you need to know on how to play a Warlock :3
